Adopt-a-Hydrant Program

n/a

The City of Thompson Fire Department is launching the Adopt-a-Hydrant Program to help keep fire hydrants clear and accessible during the winter months.

Snow-covered hydrants can delay firefighters when every second counts. We’re asking residents, businesses, and community groups to “adopt” a nearby hydrant and keep it free of snow and ice—about three feet of clearance in all directions and a visible path from the street.

Adopt a Hydrant and have a chance at monthly prizes as well as a grand prize of a $1000.00 Amazon Gift Card.

To register your hydrant, email tfes@thompson.ca or contact the Fire Department at 204-677-7916. Your help makes a real difference in keeping our community safe.

The program runs from December 1, 2025, through to May 1, 2026, deadline to register is November 30, 2025.
